🥶 Cold Showers and Lost Islamic History
How lessons from history highlight the benefits of cold showers.

Lost Islamic History 📜
As I was reading Lost Islamic History by Firas Alkhateeb, it was apparent that the greatest weaknesses of former Islamic powers stemmed from an eventual comfortability that lead to complacency and rivalries between muslims.
Ibnu Khaldun’s Theory 🤔
The 14th-century Islamic philosopher Ibnu Khaldun came up with a theory that every empire has 5 stages. These are: conquest by the original ruler; elimination of rivals; collecting wealth and glory; continuation of the legacy of the original ruler; and then finally the spree phrase where rulers are too comfortable in their wealth to care about their empire.
Cold showers 🧊
Now how is this relevant to our daily lives? Well when we get too comfortable in our day-to-day lives, we too can be adverse to taking on new risks and challenges and “expanding our empire“. From personal experience, I found that cold showers forced me to be uncomfortable in the mornings, and so I was more willing to be uncomfortable during the day and get things done. To clarify, I first take a warm shower to clean myself, and then turn the temperature all the way down for a final few seconds.
I suggest you take on this lesson from the past and give cold showers a try, no excuses. Let me know how it goes, I’m interested to hear your experiences. 😁
